(Hosting-NewsWire.com, September 03, 2016 ) Orlando, FL -- With Grandparents Day coming soon on Sept. 7th, it will let people show appreciation for all the many contributions grandparents have made, and will remind us just how much of an impact grandparents often leave on many lives.
Grandparents are more than just milk, cookies, and a free babysitter. A loving grandparent plays such an emormous part in a child's life, and while the past history of this country has been full of veneration towards loving grandparents all across the land, we are living in an era that for the first time in U.S. history, children today are very vulnerable to this era of loss of the natural affection that has benefited many generations in past centuries! Today the effects of having less time with grandparents than in previous generations, is often seen in behavioral problems and lack of closeness even with mom and dad. Past generations have commonly had grandparents who would encourage their grandchildren to appreciate mom and dad, and the sacrifices they make for their children, etc.
The United States used to strongly encourage close-knit families, and very close ties to grandma and grandpa. Today a large percentage of people are having to sacrifice time that used to be spent with the children, in order to pay the bills and to attempt to give the children a good education. Single parent families also make up a larger percentage of the population than in past centuries. Therefore, in our modern world, an involved grandparent (or grandparents) goes a long way to filling a void for a child.
The relationship between children and grandparent offers many benefits! Children can learn multiple lessons from older people who have a few more years under their belt, such as the need for strong family bonds and fond childhood memories! It has been proven to be physically, spiritually, and emotionally healthy for children to have a close relationship with someone at the opposite end of the age spectrum.
The special kind of love grandparents give is a love you can't find anywhere else. The love of a parent and a grandparent are different, and both are necessary. The grandparent/grandchild relationship is more often second in emotional importance, but even there is an opportunity to leave a powerful legacy, which can make a real difference to the child, and can give strength and comfort throughout adulthood.
Children get more undivided time and attention from grandparents than busy, tired parents can give them, and through sharing a grandparent's interests, skills and hobbies, a child is introduced to new activities and ideas; often from a past era, which is full of wonderment to the child.
Of course, there is always a story, a song or a valuable lesson that can be taught because of the life experiences grandparents have. In return it helps a grandparent relive their youth watching their grandchildren grow up. The popular Judd's song known as "Grandpa" says it best!
