But all this is done by many online small companies, who are doing their best to compete with the "big guys".
What makes Tanbi Music's customer service rare, is what they call "Adding the human touch" to their customers' online experience: They have a dedicated employee whose only task is to call their customers and see if they are happy with their purchase, help with their questions and sort out any problems.
"Most people like to feel there is somebody human behind the anonymous online website", says Debbie Barak of Tanbi Music. "People nowadays love buying online, as it is so much more convenient, but they miss the human contact which comes with buying in physical shops. They are usually grateful when they pick up the phone and hear our representative asking them about their buying experience."
The satisfaction of the customers is revealed when looking at the reviews they are leaving on Amazon pages. Here is one such review:
"I will first tell you that this company is really interested in ensuring the customer is truly happy with their product… I received a phone call on my cell phone while I was at work, only to find out that they "really" wanted to know if I was satisfied. I was completely surprised that in this day there are still companies out there that take the time and effort to please their customers".
Interestingly, not all customers are happy with this custom. On a recent feedback received on Amazon, a customer complained:
"Someone from the company … called me last night at 8.20pm to ask whether I was happy with the product. I wasn't in so they left a message. I find this an unacceptable violation of my privacy as a buyer. Sellers should not contact buyers except if there is a delivery emergency. "
As in most cases, it seems there is no way to please everyone. Some people are very protective of their privacy, and prefer the total anonymity over the human contact. "Getting such a feedback is really discouraging," says Ms. Barak, "But we still believe that most people like having the human contact even when purchasing online."
