(Hosting-NewsWire.com, June 20, 2013 ) Lampasas TX -- There is new research out from the Social Media Examiner regarding the Social Media Marketing report that the company releases each year. The information seems to reveal interesting data regarding the social marketing trends across the industry. The full report highlights areas that include some surprising statistical findings. Over 3,000 marketers were surveyed in the study to determine outcomes.
Social bookmarking of sites has fallen from 26% to 10% in a two-year span. De.licio.us, DIGG, Friendfeed, and others are plummeting in use as far as the marketers see them. According to the ebizMBA, the most popular bookmarking site that still runs at proper levels is Twitter, followed by Pinterest, Reddit, and StumbleUpon.
Other finds in the survey are as follows: Forums have dropped from 24% to 16%, while geolocation services are down from 17% to 11%. Respondents of the survey with over 5 years of experience are more likely to use LinkedIn than those without, by an average of 92% vs 70%.
Marketers who spend over 40 hours per week on social media were found to be more likely to focus on Pinterest and Google, or sites like YouTube than those who spend 6 hours per week or less on social marketing.
According to the survey, Biz-to_consumer marketers have adopted the use of Facebook at a much more accelerated rate than Biz-to-Biz marketers. The opposite appears to be true for LinkedIn.
67% of all marketers look to increase activities on Twitter in the near future. That said, the overall interest is down by four percentage points, down from 73% to 69%.
What is considered the most surprising statistic to many who have viewed the article, the reports say that 80% of marketers currently do not possess a plan to use deal sites. Websites like Groupon or LivingSocial are growing in popularity, and yet marketers do not see the demographic as a viable market.
