(Hosting-NewsWire.com, September 13, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA – Microsoft’s
Bing it on’ challenge has defeated Google search results 2 to 1. Research results commissioned before the initiation of Bing it on’ have proved that it is not necessary that the search results preferred by users are from the search engine they use. Meaning, it was unveiled that even for those users who prefer just one search engine to all others; it may be the case that the search results they prefer might be taken from the other search engines. The Bing Blog publicised the commencement of the Bing it on’ campaign last week. The campaign primarily focused on the challenge where users were displayed the search results and asked to choose from the most relevant amongst them.
According to the independent research, Bing overpowered Google in the search relevancy. Corporate vice president and chief marketing officer of Bing, Mike Nichols told Zdnet.com that, “Relevancy of search results is the No. 1 driver of search engine preference, and independent research shows that people chose Bing’s Web search results over Google’s nearly 2-to-1.” According to Mary Jo Foley’s post on CNET, Bing has a 15 percent search share in the US, which will rise to 28 per cent when Bing powers yahoo search.
The side by side search comparison of Bing with Google allows Microsoft to have a deep insight on what search results users prefer. According to the Bing Blog, the independent research was conducted in San Diego that used a sample of 1000 people ages 18 and more from all over the US. “The research shows that people chose Bing web search results over Google nearly 2:1 in blind comparison tests.”
Right now, the campaign is focused on the U.S. users but will eventually rolled out to the rest of the regions of the world.
