(Hosting-NewsWire.com, September 08, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA - Foundem, a British search engine company has elicited an antitrust investigation on Google, the world’s number one and the largest search engine company. They have warned that the search engine company faces “a tsunami of litigation” in cases if they don’t alter the search results in a fair and negotiable manner.
Cofounder of the British search engine company, Shivaun Raff, has complained that Google needs to alter their policies and should be avoiding huge litigations from the companies affected by it previous domination. Joaquin Almunia’s antitrust division at European Commission is in a far better condition of bargaining. They stated, according to the Guardian.co.uk, that,
“Anyone suggesting that Google will get away with superficial remedies … is almost certainly mistaken.”
Alumnia started off with this antitrust investigation in November of 2010 and had a series of meetings with Chairman Eric Schmidt. However in May 2012, an ultimate notification was issued to Google in which EC (European Commission) highlighted and outlined four main areas in which Google was wrongly using its power. Google was given a few weeks notification to respond back and which they did on the last day i.e. 2nd July, 2012.
It is now expected that the sooner the Alumnia will be announcing further updates about the further progress with Google.
Raff also added that,
"Unbeknownst to its shareholders, Google's increasingly anti competitive practices have been quietly accruing billions of dollars of antitrust liabilities.”
Raff’s main focus was on a point that Google gives a lot of more preference to its own products and pushes back the rivals product in the search engine rankings which is biased and hence, is a complete miss use of power. Hence Google is being offered a settlement notification under Article 9 of EU Antitrust Regulations.
