(Hosting-NewsWire.com, October 05, 2015 ) Detroit – Many people are looking for work or new jobs. While some job seekers have credentials that stand on their own, most others looking for work have a difficult time separating themselves from the other candidates. Many companies only want to hire those seekers who will make their companies look better for having hired them. One way to accomplish this is through online press releases. On Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Eastern Campus of Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD), Chris Wechner of The Ultimate Analyst will give an overview and a live demonstration about how to write and submit a press release online.
Wechner commented, “Many people complain about not being able to find the job they want, but let’s face it. As a job candidate, you’re in a much better position to get the job you want if the prospective employing company sees you as a hot commodity. Today, many employers are going online to snoop to see if they can find negative stuff about you so that they can avoid making a bad hire.”
According to a news story on AdWeek’s site (http://www.adweek.com/fishbowlny/new-survey-reveals-lessons-for-job-seekers-about-interviews/324836), in 2013 roughly 48% of all employers “Google” candidates. While high, that figure is definitely higher today.
On an article on Monster (http://career-advice.monster.com/job-search/getting-started/hr-googling-job-applicants/article.aspx), “With 77 percent of employers Googling and otherwise researching applicants, you never know what your future bosses may think about those times you ranted about your coworkers or got sloshed at a party. They may simply decide to avoid your questionable past and move on to the next candidate.”
Wechner responded, “Certainly it’s a good idea to avoid posting negative stuff on social media, but while these employers are looking for dirt, imagine if, instead, they found really great things about you. Stuff like that separates you, and it’s not as hard to do as most people think.”
Wechner says he help attendees learn by covering the basics of writing and submitting press releases online. He even plans to give a live demo writing a press release for someone in the audience.
