(Hosting-NewsWire.com, October 04, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA- Bing, Microsoft’s search engine and Klout are forming a new strategic partnership.
The new partnership will allow the technology giant to invest in the social media platform and use “Klout scores” in Bing search results. In his blog post, Klout CEO Joe Fernandez said “Bing would become one of his company’s most significant partners.” He also stated that “Klout is a friend to all social networks. We [Microsoft and Klout] both want to help everyone discover relevant people regardless of the specific networks on which they’re active.”
Since being launched in 2009, Bing has struggled to compete against Google’s search engine, which is the most used search engine in the world. Microsoft began a campaign in 2012 in an attempt to rebrand Bing and show that it was more practical as well as social-media friendly.
Just this last month they began the “Bing it On,” campaign, which blatantly challenged Google. The campaign, which is described by Microsoft itself as a way to “show why Bing is better than Google has been airing on both social media and television channels.”
Including a recent cover story in Wired Magazine, Klout has been in the limelight. Many still have concern over Klout’s system for measuring “social influence,” but user scores provided by Klout have already help leverage the brand with names like Justin Bieber and Barack Obama.
Klout says that this new partnership will work in two ways by “introducing a user’s Klout profile in their search results and Bing will then offer more data to Klout to assist its goal of enabling search through people.” Klout has also said that it has revised the scoring system again to “integrate a greater number of networks to its metric.”
